  • How AI housing solutions modernize building approvals—reducing complexity, rework, and long permit delays for governments and applicants.
  • Why faster and more transparent approvals are critical to increasing housing supply and improving affordability at scale.
  • How AI can augment planners, architects, and builders, enabling cities to process more permits, support growth, and help communities thrive.

When payment processing company Stripe reached out to Archistar to participate in a video shoot highlighting the work of eight companies who are pioneers in their industries, we jumped at the chance. Along with Archistar, this video features seven other Stripe customers doing inspiring and impactful things with emerging technology that tackle challenges and make the world a better place.

For example, Lucid Bots manufactures drones that do difficult cleaning jobs at great heights. Sorcerer collects 1,000 times more data points than existing systems for ultra-accurate weather forecasting. And Light provides energy infrastructure so companies (e.g. solar) can offer grid plans to their customers.

Meanwhile, Stripe produced this stand-alone video showing how Archistar is doing its part to mitigate the housing crisis—by streamlining the building approval process to help increase housing supply and make housing more affordable. The more we can help developers, homeowners, architects, builders, and municipalities streamline the process, the more communities will be able to thrive for future generations.

Archistar Founder and CEO, Dr. Benjamin Coorey: Could you use technology to improve how we design and how we assess buildings, and from that, where could that go?

Right now, housing is unaffordable. People can’t buy a house. How do we deliver more housing to meet the demands?

That is something that governments are struggling with around the world. So they are turning to AI solutions. How can this help us?

To handle the volume of houses that we need to build, you need systems that excel and innovate. What Archistar is trying to solve is the design and approval process.

As an architect, you look at that process—it’s complex. It doesn’t have to be. And with technology, we can streamline it and get houses out the door faster.

So, the way the Archistar eCheck tool works, you can get very quick, instant feedback before you submit to the city. And it shows you on your drawings, with ticks and crosses, did you meet the requirements? So, by making it faster, is a game-changer for applicants.

But for the city, you’re actually bringing in more business, more permits, more houses. That is how you start to scale.

We had to iterate a lot of times on that engine to say, “Can this handle the complexity of different cities?” Because every city has their own rules.

If you could see a road where the design and permitting process was instant, the cost of buying a house becomes a lot more feasible.

And what Archistar is doing is getting those permits out the door so we can build faster, we can build more, and we can play our part to solve that housing crisis.

And we are just getting started.
